Airbus A220-300 airBaltic 50th A220 YL-ABX 1:200 Scale Model
The Airbus A220-300 with registration YL-ABX became the 50th aircraft of this type delivered to airBaltic. On February 13, 2025, it was ceremonially welcomed at Riga Airport. The “50th A220” designation commemorates the expansion of the Latvian airline’s fleet; back in 2016, airBaltic became the first airline in the world to begin operating the A220-300.
A special livery featuring motifs of the Baltic region’s nature and cultural heritage was chosen for the anniversary aircraft. The central image is a young woman with long hair and a traditional wreath, depicted flying through the clouds with the Latvian flag. The design also features a sun, a swallow, and a stork. According to the airline’s concept, the livery represents all three Baltic countries: Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania.
The design was selected through an international contest announced in late 2023. A total of 840 entries were submitted, and more than 28,000 airBaltic Club members participated in the voting. The winning sketch was refined to meet the aircraft’s technical requirements. Painting the actual aircraft at the Airbus facility in Mirabel, Canada, took 18 days; 21 colors were used for the design.
The 1:200 scale model recreates the YL-ABX in this anniversary livery. The white display stand features a themed inscription commemorating the 50th A220 and Baltic nature. This model is a great addition to any collection of special liveries, Airbus aircraft, or Baltic aviation memorabilia, and makes a wonderful gift for pilots, aviation enthusiasts, and collectors.
