Airbus A380 HiFly Save the Coral Reefs 9H-MIP Model, 1:200 Scale
The Airbus A380 with registration number 9H-MIP joined the Hi Fly fleet in 2018 and was given a special “Save the Coral Reefs” livery. The aircraft became part of the Mirpuri Foundation’s campaign dedicated to the conservation of coral reefs. The world’s largest passenger airliner was used as a giant moving billboard, drawing attention to the state of the oceans during flights across various continents.
A distinctive feature of the livery is the two different designs on opposite sides of the fuselage. The light blue side depicts a healthy ocean with colorful corals and marine life. The dark-blue side shows destroyed reefs. This contrast conveys the campaign’s central message: the future of marine ecosystems depends on human actions. The design was created in collaboration with Hi Fly, the Mirpuri Foundation, and coatings manufacturer AkzoNobel.
The aircraft also holds a special place in the history of civil aviation. Hi Fly became the first company to operate an A380 to provide it—along with its crew—to other carriers, and its addition to the fleet opened up the secondary market for this type of aircraft. In December 2020, 9H-MIP completed its service with Hi Fly. During its farewell flight, its flight path formed a heart in the sky as a sign of support for the campaign.
