1:250 Scale Model of the KLM Boeing 747-200 Mississippi PH-BUA
The Boeing 747-200, registered as PH-BUA and named Mississippi, ushered in the era of wide-body airliners at KLM. This particular aircraft was the Dutch carrier’s first Boeing 747 and arrived at Schiphol Airport on January 31, 1971. The arrival of this large four-engine aircraft was a significant milestone for the airline and marked a new phase in the development of its intercontinental service.
The model recreates KLM’s early livery, featuring a white upper fuselage, blue stripes along the windows, and a silver lower section. The full name KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is displayed above the windows, and the blue logo with a crown is located on the white tail fin. Near the nose, you can see the name Mississippi and the inscription The Flying Dutchman. These details link the model to a specific aircraft and the carrier’s history.
The distinctive features of the early Boeing 747 are clearly visible: a short upper deck with three windows on each side, a rounded nose, wide swept-back wings, and four engines. It is this silhouette that became one of the symbols of mass long-distance travel and made the 747 family recognizable far beyond the aviation world.
This 1:250 scale plastic model depicts the aircraft in flight on a white base featuring the KLM emblem and the aircraft type designation. It will be a great addition to any collection of classic airliners or historic liveries. A wonderful gift for a pilot, collector, or fan of Dutch aviation.
