The Lebed XII Aircraft Model
The Lebed XII was a two-seat reconnaissance aircraft from the World War I era, built at the factory of aircraft designer Vladimir Lebedev. The aircraft was developed based on the design features of German Albatros aircraft, which were studied after captured planes fell into Russian hands. The first test flights of the Lebed XII began on December 28, 1915, and mass production started in 1916.
The original aircraft featured a wooden fuselage, fabric-covered wings, and two open cockpits arranged one behind the other for the pilot and observer. Production models were primarily equipped with a Salmson engine rated at about 150 k.s. The wingspan was approximately 13.1 m, the length was about 7.9 m, and the maximum speed reached about 130 km/h.
The Lebed XII was used primarily as a reconnaissance aircraft, and later, a significant number of these aircraft were deployed in training units. The model is mounted on a curved black stand and a display base inscribed with Lebed-12, making it a great addition to a historical aviation collection or themed exhibition.
