The Boeing 757 has long held a special place in the history of passenger aviation, but the 757-300 modification has become a real exception even within this family. It is an elongated version of the classic 757, which has been unofficially nicknamed the “long pencil” and still holds the title of the longest single-aisle twin-engine passenger aircraft ever built. Thanks to its extended fuselage, the aircraft could carry up to 280 passengers while maintaining the excellent flight characteristics of the base model.
It was these capabilities that quickly attracted the attention of the German charter and tourist airline Condor, which became the launch customer for the 757-300 in 1996. In 1999, the aircraft entered commercial service, and Condor appreciated its potential so much that it eventually operated 15 such aircraft. Despite its impressive performance, the 757-300 remained rare, with only 55 units ever built.
The keychain is made from the actual skin of the D-ABOL aircraft, a Boeing 757-300 that entered service in April 2000 and flew exclusively for Condor throughout its career.
From 2023, this aircraft bore the bright green striped livery of Green Island - a design that initially sparked debate but eventually became recognizable and beloved among aviation enthusiasts. It is this paint, with its shades, transitions, and traces of real-world use, that is preserved in each tag.
In May 2025, the aircraft made its final flight to St Athan in the UK, where it was decommissioned and dismantled.
