Keychain made from Avro Shackleton MR.3 aircraft skin
The Avro Shackleton was a British long-range maritime patrol aircraft based on the legendary Avro Lancaster. It combined the power of four Rolls Royce Griffon piston engines and, in some modifications, two more Viper 203 jet engines, which became a real engineering experiment in the years after World War II. The Shackleton first flew on March 9, 1949, and in 1951 it entered service with the Royal Air Force of Great Britain, and later with the South African Air Force. In the dynamic post-war world, it was quickly deployed on missions - first in Cyprus, and already in 1956, Shackleton took part in combat operations during Operation Musketeer in the Suez Canal area. For decades, it actively patrolled the territories of Africa, Asia and the maritime expanses of the British Empire, performing roles from reconnaissance to anti-submarine hunter. A total of 185 units of various modifications were produced before production ended in 1958.
The badge you are holding in your hands is made from an original fragment of the fuselage of an Avro Shackleton MR.3 aircraft with the registration number WR971. This aircraft first flew on 28 May 1956 and was transferred to 120 Squadron of the Royal Air Force, where it received the code designation "E". A feature of WR971 was the installation of six engines: four Griffon pistons and two Viper 203 turbojets - for increased power at take-off. During its service, this Shackleton participated in numerous patrol and surveillance missions until it was decommissioned and transferred for preservation in 1988. Currently, fragments of the aircraft are undergoing restoration at the Morayvia Museum in Scotland.
The material for creating this tag was obtained through cooperation with the Morayvia Museum. A keychain made of real Sukhoi S70 Okhotnik-B (Okhotnik-B) is a heavy, stealthy unmanned combat aircraft (UAV).
