Yakovlev Yak-40 Keychain
This Fuselage Creations keychain is made from original Yak-40 skin. Over the years, this aircraft changed owners and registrations several times, operated both government and private flights, and eventually became a museum exhibit in Kyiv.
The first stage of its history was service in the Polish Air Force under tail number 040 (red). The aircraft operated in the state aviation fleet for about thirty years until it was withdrawn from service in 2005. After that, the Yak-40 transitioned to civilian operation and flew for a short time under the Kyrgyz registration EX-87643.
In 2006, the aircraft was purchased by the Ukrainian charter company Yason and received the registration UR-MAY. The following year, Mercury Holdings Group became the new owner, and the registration changed to UR-MHG. The Yak-40 retained this registration until the end of its flying career.
In 2010, the aircraft was removed from the aircraft registry and moved from Zhuliany Airport to the grounds of the State Aviation Museum of Ukraine. For nine years, it was part of the museum’s exhibition, introducing visitors to the distinctive silhouette of this small, three-engine jet.
In 2019, a new chapter in its history began—the aircraft was dismantled. Large sections were acquired by the Lviv shopping center “Palats Sportu” for a future public project. The Fuselage Creations team received a portion of the tail section of the fuselage and used it to create aviation souvenirs.
