This aircraft served most of its career as part of the 739th Fighter Aviation Regiment in the city of Zaporizhzhia. In 1990, the aircraft was transferred to the 146th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment, which was stationed in Vasylkiv, Kyiv region. After the collapse of the Soviet Union and under the command of the Ukrainian Air Force, the aircraft briefly served in Vasylkiv. In 1993, the 146th WAP was disbanded and the MiG was redeployed to Dnipro airfield, where it flew for some time. Later, it was moved for storage to Zaporizhzhia Aircraft Repair Plant, where it was disposed of in 2012-2013.
