Painting Ukraine on my mind by Avtandil Gurgenidze
The image of UAV blades dominates the canvas, cutting diagonally across the composition. This is not a decorative element, but the structural axis of the painting, symbolizing protection, control, and movement. In the center of the composition, the main symbols of Kyiv are recognizable — silhouettes of architecture and the author's symbols of the city are integrated into the overall flow of lines and shapes.
The author of the work is Avtandil Gurgenidze, a well-known artist, monumentalist, and photographer, a graduate of the Tbilisi Academy of Arts. His style is recognizable in its complex ornamentation, combination of symbols and technical forms, as well as in his ability to speak about complex topics through color, rhythm, and movement. In 2015, he became the first artist in the world to hand-paint an An-24 aircraft, transforming it into an aviation art object at Kyiv Airport.
