Fuselage Creations presents a new addition to the collection—the “Oscar Juliet,” a Boeing 757-300 with registration D-ABOJ, which served the German carrier Condor for over 25 years. This aircraft earned the unofficial nickname “pencil” thanks to its elongated, elegant fuselage—and indeed, it is one of the most recognizable and, at the same time, rarest versions of the 757 family.
In the late 1990s, Condor was looking for an efficient replacement for its DC-10s, and Boeing offered a solution—a 757 extended by 7 meters, which combined the large capacity of a wide-body aircraft with the fuel efficiency of a narrow-body. It was thanks to Condor that this unusual aircraft got a chance at life, and today it holds a special place among aviation enthusiasts.
This issue is dedicated to one of Europe’s most striking liveries—Condor’s “Yellow Sunshine,” which the aircraft received in 2022. The striped design became a true symbol of vacation and sunny destinations, especially on the tarmacs of Palma de Mallorca and Hurghada. D-ABOJ began its history in March 2000 and remained under the same registration throughout its service, even flying for a brief period with the inscription “Powered by Thomas Cook.”
After a quarter-century of service, the aircraft ended its career in October 2025 and was scrapped at St Athan in February 2026. Today, its story lives on in the form of this aircraft model—crafted from the actual fuselage, featuring unique textures and traces of its service.
