The obverse of the coin features the small State Emblem of Ukraine, the semicircle inscription NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE, the denomination 2/ UAH below, the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine, the year of minting 2010 on the left, and a searchlight depicts the La-7 airplane (tail number 27), which Kozhedub flew.

The reverse of the coin depicts a portrait of Ivan Kozhedub (left) against the background of a stylized airfield with an airplane, under which are the inscriptions: IVAN/KOZHEDUB/ 1920/1991.
