De Havilland DH110 Sea Vixen Keychain

The de Havilland DH.110 Sea Vixen is one of the most famous British post-war carrier-based fighters. The aircraft was distinguished by its unique twin-boom tail design, two jet engines, and a two-seat cockpit, designed to perform naval air defense tasks. The Sea Vixen was specifically designed for carrier-based operations and became an important part of the Royal Navy's aviation fleet.

The DH.110 prototype made its first flight in 1951 and was officially entered into service with the Fleet Air Arm in 1959. Although its service was relatively short-lived, lasting until 1972, the Sea Vixen managed to take part in a number of real operations, notably in Tanganyika, the Persian Gulf (Yemen), and during the Indonesian-Malaysian conflict. Importantly, all these deployments were carried out from the aircraft carrier HMS Centaur.

The aircraft tag was created from the skin of a specific aircraft — Sea Vixen XJ607. This aircraft made its first flight on November 22, 1960, and was transferred to the Royal Navy in January 1961 in the FAW.1 version. During its service, “607” flew with 890, 893, and 899 Naval Air Squadrons. In 1964, the aircraft was upgraded to the FAW.2 version, after which it continued to serve in 766, 890, and 892 Fleet Air Arm squadrons.

In 1971, the XJ607 was decommissioned and used as a ground training model at engineering schools in Cranwell and Cosford. For a time, the aircraft was stored at Southampton Airport, after which it was transported to Dunsfold, where it was scrapped in March 1996. Today, the nose section of Sea Vixen XJ607 is stored at the Queensland Air Museum in Australia — one of only two Sea Vixen aircraft preserved outside the UK.

Your aviation tag is made from the metal of this historic aircraft. In 2025, Fuselage Creations collaborated with RAWTAG to produce a limited series of unique tags, each with its own texture and traces of service. This is not just an accessory, but a real piece of British deck-based jet aviation history.
