Tu-144D Aircraft Model
This 1:200 scale Herpa model reproduces the Tupolev Tu-144D supersonic passenger aircraft in Aeroflot livery, registration CCCP-77112. This is one of the most famous aircraft in the Tu-144 series, which made its maiden flight in 1979 and was used for testing and certifying the Tu-144D variant. Unlike some other aircraft of this type, it did not operate on regular passenger flights, but it did complete over 80 test flights.
After the end of its service, the aircraft was stored in Zhukovsky for many years. In the late 1990s, it was acquired by the German Technik Museum Sinsheim. A unique transport operation took place via waterways and road transport across several European countries. In 2001, the Tu-144 was installed on the museum’s roof, where it remains today.
The museum itself is located in Sinsheim, Germany. Aircraft CCCP-77112 is the only Tu-144 on display outside the former USSR, and it is part of a unique exhibition featuring two supersonic passenger aircraft side by side—the Tu-144 and the Concorde. That is why this aircraft is considered one of the most famous aviation museum exhibits in Europe.
