Oil Painting: An-12 by V.V. Korolkov, 2020
This aviation-themed floor mat transforms an ordinary part of your interior into a miniature airfield. In the center is a four-engine aircraft, surrounded by the centerline, side lines, and threshold markings of a runway. The top-down view evokes the moment just before takeoff, when the plane has already taken its place on the runway.
The mat is made of dense foam. The contours of the airplane and the markings are milled: the lines are recessed into the surface, creating a tactile relief. The light-colored design contrasts with the dark background, highlighting the shape of the wings, engines, and tail.
Measuring 75 × 110 cm, the artwork makes for a striking focal point in a room or workspace. Its rectangular shape with rounded corners and understated color scheme will complement an aviation-themed office, lounge area, or space near a home flight simulator. A gift for someone whose very interior design is inspired by flight.
